Iranian town mourns after strikes kill 5 at wedding celebration

Kuhestak, a small town in southern Iran, was left in mourning after five people were killed during a wedding celebration. The town is still grappling with the aftermath of an American bombardment that struck the area on Tuesday evening. At the time of the incident, women with their children were gathered in the house and yard, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bride and groom to commence the festivities.

Following the explosion, the scene turned into a horrifying tragedy. Plaques at the entrance of the town displayed pictures of four of the victims - a four-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, and two women. Another woman, among over sixty people wounded by the blasts, succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital on Thursday.

An Associated Press team was granted a rare access to the town on Friday, located on the coast overlooking the Strait of Hormuz. They discovered the Mallahi family compound, which had been struck during the celebration of their daughter's wedding. The Mallahi residence was identified as one of the targets. A U.S. weapons expert, upon reviewing images from the scene, concluded that the strikes were carried out using American guided bombs.

Among the casualties, Ali Mallahi, a resident of the town, tragically lost his life. The attack resulted in significant damage to the area, with a gaping hole appearing in the roof of Ali Mallahi's compound.
