Ganga above danger mark in Bihar, 33 rescue teams, 700 boats deployed

Floodwaters in Bihar have surged above danger levels in several major rivers, prompting the deployment of emergency response teams and rescue boats. The National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force have dispatched 33 teams and 693 government vessels to assist in relief and evacuation efforts across vulnerable districts.

The Ganga, Gandak, Kosi, Budhi Gandak, Punpun, and Ghaghra rivers are currently flowing above their danger thresholds in various districts, including Patna, Mokama, Mokama, Bhagalpur, Kahalgaon, Buxar, Munger, Gopalganj, Vaishali, Khagaria, Katihar, and Siwan. Despite the rising waters, authorities have managed to maintain control over the situation through continuous monitoring and administrative readiness.

District administrations have been actively conducting relief operations, such as setting up community kitchens and relief camps, while the Chief Minister has personally surveyed the flood affected areas. High-level meetings have been held to review the flood situation, embankments, and relief measures, with officials being directed to ensure the timely delivery of essential supplies and services to those impacted.

Communities are advised to avoid consuming unidentified fish caught from the floodwaters, as they may pose health risks due to potential contamination.
