Explosion at Bolivia military base kills at least 10

An explosion at a Bolivian military base in Viacha has left at least ten people dead and over sixty injured, according to local authorities. Fireworks were stored at the base when the blast occurred, but the cause remains under investigation. The incident took place on Friday around 2:30 pm in an area designated for pyrotechnic material storage.

Health Director Rita Nebraska reported that fourteen wounded individuals, including a girl with third-degree burns, were being treated in La Paz hospitals. About fifty people were injured, with dozens of homes damaged due to shattered windows. Emergency services, including ambulances, medical teams, and police, were dispatched to the scene to assess damage and evacuate the wounded.

A heat source was still present, posing a risk of further explosions, and residents were advised to maintain a distance of at least 150 meters. Bolivia, a landlocked country in central South America, borders several South American nations and has a population of approximately twelve million people.
