Chicago Sky calls Enes Kanter Freedom’s lawsuit ‘meritless and frivolous’

Chicago Sky owner Michael Alter dismissed a lawsuit filed by former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom on Friday, calling it "meritless and frivolous." The lawsuit, filed in the U.S District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, alleges that the Sky violated Freedom's First Amendment rights when they ejected him from a game for wearing a shirt that called attention to transgender athletes' participation in women's sports.

Alter stated in a statement that the lawsuit is false, as Freedom was only removed after he violated the fan code of conduct by rising, gesturing at a player, and stepping toward the court. Freedom's lawsuit seeks a declaration that his First Amendment rights were violated, a lifting of his indefinite ban from Wintrust Arena, and an award of nominal and compensatory damages.
