CDF Munir reaffirms Balochistan’s peace, prosperity central to state efforts: ISPR

On Saturday, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Quetta Garrison to reaffirm that the well-being of the people of Balochistan remained a top priority for the state. The visit came as there had been a recent increase in terrorist activity in the province, including attacks in Pishin and Chagai as well as major counter-terrorism operations in Mastung, Kalat, and Sibi over the past week.

Upon arrival, Munir was received by the Quetta Corps Commander and provided a detailed briefing on the current security situation, operational readiness, and ongoing measures to maintain peace and stability throughout Balochistan. He emphasized that a stable environment would continue to support development, economic opportunities, and improved prospects for the people of the province.

The meeting also addressed institutional coordination and socio-economic development in the region. Munir expressed appreciation for the professionalism, readiness, and commitment of the troops, stressing the importance of continued cooperation among law enforcement agencies and other state institutions to maintain peace and foster a conducive atmosphere for economic growth.

Earlier that day, ISPR reported that 48 terrorists had been killed in a series of anti-terror operations across Balochistan, targeting "Indian proxies, Fitna-al-Hindustan, and Fitna-al-Khawarij." The following day, the Balochistan government announced that two policemen were among five people injured when security forces disrupted a coordinated terrorist attack on a police station, bank, and assistant commissioner's office in Bhag.

The following night, TTP terrorists launched a coordinated assault on the Customs House in Pishin district, resulting in the deaths of 10 terrorists and two officers. In the preceding month, the security situation in Balochistan had worsened, with terrorist attacks increasing by seven percent from 83 in July to 89 in August.
