CDA to Seal Offices of 4 Housing Societies in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has instructed its Enforcement Division to seal the offices of four housing societies in Islamabad, following allegations of non-compliance with approved layout plans. The societies targeted are Soan Garden, Bahria Town, Jinnah Garden, and Accounts Group Officers Cooperative Housing Society (AGOCHS).

According to letters from CDA's Planning Division, these societies violated layout plans and neglected to adhere to the authority's directives, even after receiving multiple warnings. The CDA accused Soan Garden of illegally converting areas designated for parks, a graveyard, and public buildings. Additionally, the society carried out construction over 585 kanals without the necessary layout plan and necessary no objection certificate (NOC).

Bahria Town, on the other hand, failed to meet the conditions set for its Phase-III E and IV development scheme, and also allegedly violated rules concerning sites set aside for parks, graveyards, and public facilities in other phases. Jinnah Garden was accused of developing schemes without obtaining an NOC and converting areas that were supposed to be used for parks, green spaces, schools, hospitals, and graveyards.

Similarly, AGOCHS was informed that its layout plan had been cancelled, and the society was accused of converting sites earmarked for public amenities. A senior CDA official confirmed that the authority intends to seal the offices following the issuance of show-cause and final notices to the involved housing societies.
