Bihar Finalises Google MoU To Train Teachers In AI, Develop Modern Education Ecosystem With Microsoft And Sarvam AI | Watch

Bihar's Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced on Saturday that the state has signed an agreement with Google to train teachers in artificial intelligence (AI) tools. This move is aimed at improving the teaching capabilities of educators in Bihar. The Chief Minister made the announcement during a National Teachers Day ceremony held at Shri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna.

"By entering into an MoU with Google, we are taking a step towards enhancing the teaching quality in the state," Choudhary said during the ceremony. He also outlined other initiatives being undertaken by the Bihar government in collaboration with Microsoft and Sarvam AI to develop a modern AI ecosystem.

These efforts include establishing a Teacher Training University, devising a separate pay scale arrangement for honorarium-based teachers, and ensuring timely payment of pending salaries for teachers of Madrasa and Sanskrit Boards. The Chief Minister also highlighted the significant improvement in education outcomes in Bihar over the past two decades.

School dropout rates have dropped drastically, from 46% to 2% at the primary level, 73% to below 10% at the upper-elementary level, and 83% to below 7% at the higher-secondary level.

Additionally, the share of out-of-school children has declined from nearly 12% to just 1.7%. To ensure transparency and fairness in competitive exams, an Examination Reforms Expert Committee has been set up under the chairmanship of a sitting judge.
