Aussie drone teams join rescue effort in Nepal

Australia has bolstered its search and rescue efforts in Nepal's flood-devastated regions. A 15-person Disaster Assistance Response Team composed of Queensland Fire Department and Fire and Rescue NSW specialists arrived in Kathmandu on Friday. Additional support, including victim identification experts, is en route. The team's drones will provide critical information about difficult-to-reach or dangerous areas.

A glacier collapse near Nepal's border with Tibet on August 26 triggered catastrophic flooding, with the death toll surpassing 1300 and 4800 people still missing, including 601 foreign nationals. At least 36 Australians remain among the missing. Foreign Minister Penny Wong confirmed that Nepali authorities would search areas where many Australians were believed to have been during the floods.
