US says it will break ground soon on Trump’s arch

Washington D.C. officials have confirmed that excavation work will commence soon on a monumental arch proposed by former President Donald Trump, signaling swift progress on the ambitious project. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum announced that the excavation for the Great Triumphal Arch, a 250-foot white structure adorned with golden statues of an angel and eagles, will begin within the next two weeks.

The arch will be situated in a picturesque grassy circle between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. The Trump administration has expressed its intention to create a landmark that honors Arlington Cemetery's history and significance as well as the capital's grandeur. However, the proposed location has sparked controversy due to the lack of congressional consultation, potentially obstructing crucial views between iconic landmarks and the final resting place of thousands of American military personnel.

Trump's renovation spree has resulted in numerous legal battles, including the construction of a massive ballroom within the White House and extensive renovations of the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall. The president's name was temporarily added to the Kennedy Center's facade but was later removed by a judge and replaced with a different method of recognition.
