Troops Recover More Boko Haram/ISWAP Items after Failed Attack in Borno

Troops from the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai have recovered further items linked to Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists following a failed assault in Kukawa, Borno State. Captain Mohammed Goni, the Military Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, disclosed the discovery on September 2, 2026 during a follow-up operation in the Alagarno region, northeast of Kukawa.

Among the recovered items were several motorcycles, three blankets, a jackknife, a large prayer mat, cups, tea-making equipment, a rope, a head warmer, trousers with bloodstains, and other personal belongings. Captain Goni explained that the discovered bloodstained clothing and abandoned items suggested that the fleeing terrorists had sustained casualties during the initial clash and were forced to abandon their equipment and personal items as they retreated from the area.

He added that the latest recovery came after the successful defense of Kukawa, where coordinated ground and air operations inflicted significant losses on the terrorists and disrupted their withdrawal efforts. The theatre command spokesperson stated that troops have continued conducting search and clearance operations in the surrounding areas to deny terrorists the ability to maneuver freely and prevent them from regrouping.

Captain Goni expressed confidence that the Joint Task Force would maintain pressure on terrorist elements to solidify recent advancements towards restoring lasting peace and security throughout the North-east.
