Tamil Nadu Finance Minister N. Marie Wilson receives charge sheet in assault case from Puducherry court

On September 4, 2026, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister N. Marie Wilson and his father, Nestor, received the additional charge sheet in a 2022 assault case from the Puducherry District Court. The Minister appeared before the Second Judicial Magistrate Chandrasekharan as directed by the court, accompanied by his father, who was also an accused in the case.

After receiving the charge sheet, the judge set the next hearing for September 9. The case was initially being heard by JM-I, but its recent transfer led the accused to appear before JM-II. The court had previously ordered the Minister to appear "in person without fail" to receive the charge sheet and a pen drive, which was provided by the complainant as evidence of the alleged assault.

The Madras High Court had previously criticized the Minister for not showing up in connection with the case. The charge sheet was filed by Careline Claude, wife of the Minister's brother, who lodged the complaint alleging that Wilson trespassed into her house and assaulted her over a property dispute. The initial FIR was challenged by Claude, claiming it invoked lenient provisions of the law, but the police later filed a fresh charge sheet invoking more serious provisions.
