Swatantra Bharadwaj detained in Bulandshahr, says Delhi Police

Swatantra Bhardwaj, known as an influencer, was arrested on Friday for allegedly attacking a protester's father during a demonstration organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Bhardwaj fled on a motorcycle but was eventually apprehended by the police. The CJP had previously demanded his arrest and claimed he admitted to the attack in June.

Bhardwaj, a right-wing activist, stated he attacked the father of a CJP protester and avoided arrest due to political influence. He also alleged that his victim, Sanjay Kumar, sustained severe injuries, including 60 stitches and a near-death condition. This incident occurred at Jantar Mantar, where Sanjay Kumar, 38, from Ghaziabad, suffered a head injury.

Bhardwaj further stated that a Section 307 IPC case should have been filed against him, alleging attempted murder. Protesters, including CJP spokesperson Saurav Das and co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka, marched to the Parliament Street Police Station to push for Bhardwaj's arrest. An FIR had been filed for the assault case, but the CJP argued that the sections mentioned were minor. After negotiations with the police, relevant sections under the SC/ST Act were added to the FIR.
