Jann Arden to appear at pro-Canada concert ahead of Alberta separation vote

Jann Arden will perform at a pro-Canada concert in Calgary before the province's referendum on potentially seceding from Canada. The "Forever Canadian" campaign is organizing the "Calgary Concert for Unity" on September 20 at The Confluence Historic Site, formerly known as Fort Calgary. Other artists joining the event include folk musicians Celeigh Cardinal, Reuben Bullock, and John Wort Hannam, as well as jazz singer Caity Gyorgy.

The campaign's message emphasizes Alberta's role within Confederation and urges attendees to stand as "loud and proud Canadians." The referendum, set for October 19, will ask Albertans whether they want to remain part of Canada or pursue a second, binding vote on separation. Supporters of separation argue that Alberta does not need Ottawa and can thrive independently, while opponents believe Canada can function effectively and that separation could jeopardize Indigenous treaty rights.
