Summary of external news of North Korea this week

On September 4, the White House inquired with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) about potential courses of action if President Donald Trump were to negotiate a deal with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, according to the agency's director.

Kelly McKeague, DPAA director, emphasized during an online forum that the agency has communicated its readiness to engage with Pyongyang to recover the remains of U.S. troops who perished during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.

Meanwhile, North Korea reduced its diplomatic mission in London in response to British sanctions imposed on a North Korean camp accused of deporting Ukrainian children. The foreign ministry announced this decision on its website on Friday, labeling it a "diplomatic response" to the "politically provocative" move by Britain.

Additionally, Victor Cha, a prominent expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), suggested on a podcast that President Trump might not face issues acknowledging North Korea's nuclear arsenal. Cha posited that Trump may not consider it his responsibility and noted that Pyongyang could delay any potential summit with Trump until after the November midterm elections.
