Summary of domestic news in North Korea this week

SEOUL, Sept. 4 (Yonhap) -- North Korea made several domestic updates this week, according to state media. Their defense minister was replaced by Kim Song-gi, who heads the General Political Bureau of the North's Korean People's Army. North Korea also denounced the United States for its "hostile" policy and vowed "toughest" countermeasures.

In a letter to Vietnam's president on the country's 81st founding anniversary, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening ties with Vietnam. At the 15th National Conference of Teachers, Kim Jong-un stressed the importance of education and praised teachers for their role in nurturing the country's future.

Lastly, references to peaceful unification with South Korea were removed from North Korea's ruling Workers' Party of Korea's charter, indicating a shift in how the country views its relationship with South Korea.
