Spurs omit Richarlison from Premier League squad

Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto de Zerbi has announced that Brazil forward Richarlison will not be included in the Premier League squad for the first half of the season. De Zerbi revealed that the 29-year-old Brazil international had requested to leave the club and was close to rejoining his former team Everton before the Tuesday transfer deadline.

However, a deal did not materialize, leading to Richarlison's absence from Tottenham's lineup. The player was informed of his exclusion before the deadline and is anticipated to depart the club in the near future, with transfer windows still open in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Richarlison transferred to Tottenham from Everton in 2022, having moved from Watford in 2018.

He entered the final year of his contract at the London club and played in Tottenham's opening game against Brentford, but was notably absent from De Zerbi's squad when the team lost 2-0 against Newcastle United. De Zerbi commented on Richarlison's desire to depart the club, stating that the player had repeatedly expressed his wish to leave.

Earlier in August, De Zerbi indicated that the Brazilian was uncertain about his future, acknowledging that finding another striker like Richarlison would be challenging. Recently, Tottenham signed Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush on loan, replacing Richarlison in the lineup following their 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle. Last season, Richarlison was Tottenham's top scorer in the league with 11 goals in 32 appearances and four assists, playing a crucial role despite the team's struggle for Premier League survival, which was secured on the final day.
