SPRM gantung pemakaian baju oren bawa suspek ke mahkamah

Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Agency, the Solicitor-General's Chambers (SPRM), has implemented a policy banning the use of light-colored clothing for individuals under investigation (OKS) when they are being transported to court for the purpose of a search warrant, according to the Chief Adviser of SPRM, Abd Halim Aman. The decision comes in response to recent developments and suggestions regarding the procedures for controlling OKS, particularly during the court transfer process.

According to a statement, OKS are permitted to wear regular clothing during the court transport, while light-colored clothing is only used while they are in detention at SPRM facilities. However, the use of gloves is subject to certain conditions and is exempt for cases involving corruption, the disabled, children, and the elderly.

Despite this, SPRM remains committed to ensuring that all actions related to OKS control are carried out professionally, with integrity and impartiality, in accordance with the law and established procedures.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed that individuals assisting in investigations do not need to wear light-colored clothing, as this may create a perception that is different from their actual role. He stated that the individual to be investigated should be questioned first, and if there is a case for prosecution, the next steps will be handed over to the enforcement body.

Anwar emphasized the importance of conducting investigations with professionalism and fairness, with evidence-based decisions, while those without evidence will be released.
