SPRM gantung pemakaian baju oren bawa suspek ke mahkamah

Pemerintahan Malaysia (SPRM) has implemented a new rule prohibiting the use of government-issued uniforms by Investigation Targets (OKS) when being transported to court. Secretary-General of SPRM Abd Halim Aman revealed that this measure is a response to recent developments and recommendations regarding the handling procedures for OKS, particularly during their transport to court.

According to Aman, OKS are permitted to wear their regular clothing during their transport to court, while the wearing of the official uniform is only allowed while they are in police custody. However, the use of special shoes is subject to specific circumstances, with exceptions for corrupt officials, persons with disabilities, children, and the elderly.

SPRM remains committed to ensuring that all measures taken during the handling of OKS are carried out professionally, with integrity and confidentiality, in accordance with laws and established procedures.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed the view that individuals assisting in investigations do not need to wear the official uniform, as it may create a different perception of them. Anwar stated that individuals involved in the investigation should be questioned beforehand, and if there is a case to answer, the subsequent actions would be handed over to the enforcement agency.

Anwar emphasized that the execution of investigations should be carried out with professionalism and fairness, with cases supported by evidence continuing to be pursued, while those without evidence should be released.
