South Korea prepares Hormuz military deployment: Reports

The presidential office announced on Friday that a final decision has not yet been made regarding the deployment of military forces to the Strait of Hormuz. A review is currently underway, according to a presidential official. South Korea may be capable of providing military contributions to global efforts aimed at ensuring unobstructed passage through the strait, provided that its defense readiness is not compromised, the official stated.

This potential participation would hinge on the South Korean government's decision. Reports in the media suggest that the government is preparing to seek parliamentary approval for a plan to send military forces to the strait, which could include a combat support ship. U.S. President Donald Trump has recently been exerting pressure on Seoul to make such military contributions, repeatedly alleging that the ally has refused his request.
