Saudi man stabbed during attempted robbery in London's Mayfair

A Saudi man was stabbed in central London during an attempted robbery on Thursday evening in the upscale Mayfair district. The Saudi Embassy issued a warning to its citizens to be vigilant and guard their property after the incident. London's Metropolitan Police arrived at the scene at 9:38pm and treated the victim, who was later taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, a 58-year-old man, was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, and attempted robbery. He also sustained minor injuries during the arrest. The embassy emphasized the importance of investigating the incident thoroughly and holding the perpetrator accountable. This is not the first instance of such an attack in recent years, with a Saudi student being murdered in Cambridge last year.

London's mayor has acknowledged recent incidents of street crime, including thefts of mobile phones and watches, but maintains that the city's murder rate remains low compared to other international cities. The Met Police stated that the attack on the Saudi man appears isolated and there is no indication of ongoing risk to the public.
