Retired military officer with ‘Datuk’ title charged over alleged caddie molestation in Ayer Keroh

A 68-year-old retired military officer, Yahya Hashim, was charged in Ayer Keroh Magistrates' Court with using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a 20-year-old female caddie at Tiara Melaka Golf & Country Club in Ayer Keroh, Melaka. According to prosecutors, the alleged incident occurred between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm on August 25.

Yahya pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Uthman Abd Ghani. The offence is punishable by up to 10 years' imprisonment, a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments upon conviction. Deputy Public Prosecutor Syauqi Mardia Baharudin requested a bail amount of RM5,000 with a condition that Yahya not disturb the victim, who is her workplace.

Yahya's lawyer, Melvin Tay, sought a lower bail amount, citing his client's retirement, lack of fixed income, and living with his wife. The court also learned that Yahya has a prostate-related health condition requiring treatment. Yahya was granted bail of RM2,500 with one surety and a prohibition on disturbing the victim until the case concludes. The court set September 28 for the next mention.
