‘Reimagining Keralam’: IIM Kozhikode holds strategic leadership retreat for Kerala ministers

The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM Kozhikode) hosted a strategic leadership retreat titled 'Reimagining Keralam' for the Kerala Council of Ministers. The two-day event aimed to engage the state's political leadership with academics and international experts in discussions about Kerala's long-term development priorities.

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and 20 Cabinet ministers attended the first day, which focused on emerging challenges and opportunities, including artificial intelligence, governance, healthcare, climate resilience, ageing, and future economic prospects. The retreat commenced with a session on 'Transformational Leadership in the Age of AI: Engaging People with Purpose and Impact' by IIM Kozhikode Director Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, coordinated by Prof. Anandakuttan Unnithan.

The first day featured key sessions such as 'Positioning Keralam as a Healthcare and Wellness Destination' led by Dr Aravind Srinivasan, 'Living with Risk: Climate Resilience and Community Preparedness' by Dr Rajib Shaw from Keio University, Japan, and 'From Policy to Behaviour: The Science of Making Governance Work' by Dr Sanchayan Banerjee and Siddhart Padhi from IIM Kozhikode.

Ministers engaged in over five hours of discussions with faculty and experts, contemplating how to translate the insights into sustainable community-level changes. The second day of the retreat, set for Saturday, will concentrate on Kerala's economy, fiscal foundations, job creation, enterprise development, skills enhancement, higher education, global positioning, and the emerging silver economy.
