Reckless driving incidents fall by 38% across Africa, new Yango Ride Safety Report finds

Yango Ride, the ride-hailing service owned by Yango Group, has reported a significant 38% reduction in reckless driving incidents across Africa between 2024 and 2025. The decline is attributed to the implementation of advanced driving style analysis and speed control measures, alongside other safety measures. In specific African countries, reckless driving incidents decreased by 35% in Côte d’Ivoire, 49% in Zambia, 34% in Angola, and 33% in Senegal.

Following the continuous rollout of privacy-protecting call technologies, post-trip contact complaints also decreased by 11% in Côte d’Ivoire, 22% in Angola, 8% in Senegal, and 4% in Zambia. A 24/7 urgent support service, backed by technology and trained specialists, operates globally, with first contact made within 5 minutes in 90% of urgent cases.

The safety framework extends before, during, and after each trip, involving identity verification, GPS speed monitoring, a Safety Center for route details sharing, and an SOS-button for emergency services. Moreover, Yango Ride collaborates with public institutions and local communities, such as Angola's Integrated Public Security Center and Zambia's Safer Journeys to School initiative, to enhance road safety.
