Rain possible in eastern UAE as temperatures reach 46°C

Dubai: A possibility of rain hangs over parts of the UAE on Friday as convective clouds are expected to form over eastern and southern regions, while temperatures soar to a blistering 46°C in inland areas, according to the National Centre of Meteorology. Clear to partly cloudy conditions will prevail across most of the country, with clouds forecast to gather during the day in the east and south.

Some of these clouds may transform into convective formations, leading to rainfall. Winds will be light to moderate but could intensify around the clouds, reaching speeds of 45 km/h and causing dust and sand to swirl. Inland regions can anticipate temperatures ranging from a sweltering 41°C to 46°C, coastal areas and islands from 37°C to 42°C, and mountainous zones from a cooler 30°C to 36°C.

Humidity is set to rise on Friday night and resume on Saturday morning over some coastal and internal areas, with a chance of mist developing. Relative humidity could climb as high as 90 per cent in both coastal and inland locales. Rain chances will linger into Saturday, with unsettled weather likely to continue on the following day as well.

Convective clouds may again build over eastern areas in the afternoon, bringing more rain. By Sunday, the weather is anticipated to settle into a fair to partly cloudy pattern, with occasional convective clouds in the east during the afternoon, though the NCM does not explicitly forecast any rainfall. A more settled weather pattern is expected to set in from Monday through Tuesday, with fair to partly cloudy skies and no rain indicated in the current forecast.

Wind speeds are expected to remain moderate over the weekend and early next week, ranging from 10 to 25 km/h, occasionally spiking to 35 km/h.
