Rada to be asked to introduce concept of ‘worker ensuring life support in frontline region’ – MP

Mykhailo Ananchenko, MP and co-chair of the Frontline Territories parliamentary association, announced plans to introduce legislation defining the concept of workers providing life support in frontline regions of Ukraine. This bill, developed jointly with the Association of Frontline Cities and Communities, aims to address the lack of comprehensive state support for frontline areas.

Currently, there is no separate category for individuals working in these regions, nor specific definitions of frontline workers or businesses. The proposed bill seeks to amend the Tax Code of Ukraine and other legislative acts to support these workers. Ananchenko highlighted the need for a dedicated category of frontline workers, likening them to internally displaced persons and combat veterans, who currently lack specific protections.

He also cited the high death toll among utility workers in Kherson region and called for increased social guarantees. The bill would determine which territories are considered potential or active combat zones, outline who qualifies as frontline workers, and establish benefits. Additionally, Ananchenko proposed adjusting the pension age in frontline regions, taking into account the varying working conditions across different areas. The draft bill is set to be registered in parliament by the end of the following week.
