Police cam spotted teen murder accused at CJP protest. There’s a jail twist

On November 18, 2014, Pratap Singh Sisodia and his associate Siddharth Sharma were arrested for the alleged kidnapping and murder of 13-year-old Utkarsh in East Delhi. The Delhi Police's Facial Recognition System identified Sisodia at the Cockroach Janta Party-led protest at Jantar Mantar between July 20 and 26. However, jail records reveal that Sisodia was in custody at the time of the protest.

The Indian Express reported that at least 25 people, accused of serious crimes including murder, attempted murder, rape, and child abuse, were in jail and identified by the facial recognition software at Jantar Mantar. Sisodia has been in custody since November 28, 2014, and again on March 3 of last year. Delhi Police clarified that any action on those identified by the Facial Recognition System will be taken only after "field verification."
