Beijing Urges US to Drop Iran-Related Sanctions on Chinese Firms

China is urging the United States to lift sanctions imposed on its companies and nationals related to Iran, according to China's Ministry of Commerce Spokesperson Huang Ling. Ling emphasized that Beijing strongly opposes unilateral sanctions lacking international law backing or UN Security Council authorization. Despite multiple objections, the U.S. continues to impose these sanctions on Chinese entities allegedly connected to Iran.

Ling highlighted the severe disruption of trade flows and economic exchanges between China and other nations due to these unilateral actions. He further stressed that such sanctions undermine global energy security and supply stability. China called on the U.S. to rectify these practices and lift the sanctions immediately, asserting that Beijing will defend the rights and interests of its companies and citizens vigorously.

In July, the U.S. imposed sanctions on six individuals and entities in China, including Mahan Air, for their alleged support of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps and transportation network. These sanctions were issued amid ongoing tensions between the two countries since February 28, coinciding with President Xi Jinping's visit to the U.S. following President Trump's earlier visit to Beijing in May.
