PM Modi congratulates ‘friend’ Meloni on becoming Italy’s longest-serving PM

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni celebrated a historic milestone on Friday as her government became the longest-serving in the history of the Italian Republic. Reaching 1,413 days in office, her administration surpassed the previous record of 1,412 days held by Silvio Berlusconi's second government between 2001 and 2005. Meloni expressed her gratitude and responsibility for the achievement in a post on X, emphasizing that political stability is essential for national planning and governance.

She acknowledged that the government's longevity was a result of the unity of her center-right coalition, rather than individual efforts. Meloni attributed the success to the support of Italians who voted for her coalition in 2022, stating that trust will not be taken for granted.
