Pixel’s New AI Feature Can Now Explain What’s Draining Your Phone

Google is introducing AI-powered Battery usage summaries for Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 smartphones to help users understand what may be draining their phone's battery life. The feature, which has been rolled out via an update to Google's AI Core, turns Pixel battery statistics into a plain-English explanation of potential power-draining activities.

The system analyzes battery activity in the background, including app consumption, background activity, and current battery consumption compared to the user's average. It then generates a summary highlighting key details, providing an AI-generated explanation on top of existing battery statistics. Users can enable or disable the feature through the Settings menu.

While the feature doesn't replace the existing statistics, it makes device management more accessible by translating technical information into plain language. Google emphasizes that battery diagnostics usually require users to understand technical details, but this feature simplifies the process for users to tackle unexpected battery drain.

The rollout is not simultaneous, with the feature already working on Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Pixel 11 Pro XL, while Pixel 10 and Pixel 10a devices may not see it yet after software updates.
