Panvel RTO Warns Auto-Rickshaw, Bus Operators Of Strict Action Against Overcharging And Safety Violations During Ganeshotsav

The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Panvel has issued a stern warning to auto-rickshaw and bus operators, threatening strict action against those found overcharging passengers, misbehaving with them, and violating traffic rules during the Ganeshotsav festival. With millions of devotees expected to travel to the Konkan region from Mumbai and other parts of the state, passenger safety is the top priority for the RTO.

Transport operators are required to adhere to government-prescribed fares and ensure passenger safety at all times. Violations of these rules will result in action under the Motor Vehicles Act. Rickshaw drivers are instructed to keep all vehicle documents valid, maintain orderly parking at transport hubs, and not carry passengers beyond the permitted capacity.

Bus operators must ensure emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and first-aid kits are in working order. Drivers are warned against driving under the influence of alcohol or in a reckless manner. Both drivers and vehicle owners will face penalties for any violations.
