No more MACC orange uniform for political leaders in court — Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: In a recent development, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that political leaders will not be required to wear the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) orange uniform when appearing in court, according to the Malaysian news agency <source 36a0fcf8-94b>. Anwar conveyed this information yesterday, though he did not provide further details on the announcement's context.

He emphasized that this decision was made prior to any formal meeting or event. According to Anwar, the purpose of this change is to ensure that political leaders who cooperate with the investigation are not subjected to additional scrutiny through the MACC uniform. He stated, "If you want to investigate, investigate first. If there is a case to be brought to court, I leave it to the enforcement authorities to decide what colour uniform should be worn."

Anwar expressed respect for the chosen perspective, acknowledging that some individuals may cooperate with the investigation and thus prefer not to wear the orange uniform, which he noted could create a different perception.
