No away fans for Old Firm games this season after agreement reached

The Scottish Premiership and Premier Sports Cup will bar away supporters from Celtic and Rangers matches this season. This decision came after discussions between the Glasgow clubs and the SPFL, following a review of last term's Scottish Cup quarter-final at Ibrox. The match was plagued by disturbances and pitch invasions from both sets of fans.

Rangers had initially offered to allow just 300 away fans for their upcoming cup tie against Celtic, but Celtic refused the offer. The unrest occurred after Celtic's 2-1 victory in a penalty shootout, with approximately 8,000 visiting supporters in attendance—significantly higher than usual for Old Firm league derbies. Subsequently, the Scottish FA decided that both clubs must host their next Scottish Cup home games without spectators.

The SPFL announced the temporary ban, stating it enables the clubs, SPFL, Police Scotland, and other stakeholders to assess the independent review's findings and recommendations, implement necessary actions, and ensure ample time for planning future fixtures. All parties agreed to collaborate constructively during this period, with safety and security being the top priority.
