Mick Schumacher joins Meyer Shank Racing for 2027 IndyCar season

Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) has announced its driver lineup for the 2027 IndyCar Series, revealing that Mick Schumacher will compete in the #66 Honda alongside returning driver Marcus Armstrong, who joins the team in his third season. The announcement was made after only one race remained in Schumacher's rookie campaign with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.

The German driver, who adapted quickly to North American open-wheel racing, earned the Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year title after completing all 200 laps at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and finishing 18th. He also showed strong qualifying pace on ovals, securing fourth-place grid positions at both Phoenix Raceway and Milwaukee, ultimately finishing eighth at Nashville Superspeedway.

Schumacher expressed excitement about joining the ambitious team and collaborating with Meyer Shank Racing. He also mentioned looking forward to learning from the team and working with their partners. Prior to IndyCar, Schumacher achieved success in various international motorsport categories, including the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship, the 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship, and 43 Formula 1 Grand Prix starts with Haas F1 Team.

Joining Schumacher in 2027 is Utah-based advanced materials manufacturer ENVE Composites, known for their high-performance carbon fiber components and successful collaborations in cycling and motorsports. MSR co-owner Mike Shank expressed enthusiasm about the new additions to the team, highlighting Schumacher's impressive performance and potential in the competitive IndyCar Series.
