(Bernama photo) PUTRAJAYA: Relevant agencies have been urged to take action and conduct a comprehensive review of the airing of several dramas featuring sensual scenes and manipulation for artistic or social awareness reasons.

Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Minister Zulkifli Hasan stated that his ministry is aware of public anxiety. "While the intention to convey reality is understood, the shocking manner of delivery and its use as a marketing tool risks undermining the true educational message. "In this regard, we urge relevant agencies to conduct a thorough review and take action if proven to violate guidelines," he said in a statement.

Hasan said the spread of clips from the dramatic scene is feared to foster bad norms in society and have a negative impact on the emotional and moral development of young people. "Artists and media platforms are reminded not to put attendance figures and business profits above the blessings and requirements of religious integrity in their work.

"The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) calls on all members of the creative industry to rediscover manners, ethics, and Maqasid Syariah, as educating society about damage should not be done by damaging viewers' perspectives," he said. Zulkifli said cooperation between the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and relevant agencies will see the review based on JAKIM Circular 4/2015 be elevated to preserve the sanctity of religion.
