Man Utd in ‘good place’ despite imperfect squad, says Carrick

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick expressed satisfaction with the squad he has assembled, despite the club's challenges in competing with Premier League rivals. United spent £155 million on Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Carlos Baleba to bolster their midfield, following the departures of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte.

The £155 million outlay was outpaced by Manchester City's £210 million acquisition of Enzo Fernandez and Liverpool's £123 million spend on Bradley Barcola. Carrick acknowledged the financial constraints and the need to make the best use of available resources, stating that the squad additions have strengthened the team. The manager remains optimistic about the squad's potential, emphasizing that the players have been "delighted" with the transfers.

Carrick highlighted the importance of adapting to the team's current situation, acknowledging that no squad is perfect and that steps must be taken to achieve the ultimate goal. The Dutch international Joshua Zirkzee, despite interest from other clubs, remains with United and is expected to receive more playing time, providing valuable competition and depth to the team.

Following a poor start to the season with a 2-0 loss to Hull, United rebounded with a 5-2 victory over Ipswich, with Bruno Fernandes scoring a hat-trick.
