Man Utd in ‘good place’ despite imperfect squad, says Carrick

Michael Carrick, Manchester United's manager, expressed satisfaction with the squad he assembled despite its imperfections and the hefty sum spent by rivals. United bolstered their midfield with the signings of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Carlos Baleba, all totaling £155 million. Their rivals, Manchester City and Liverpool, splurged on Enzo Fernandez and Bradley Barcola, individual transfers surpassing the United's collective expenditure.

Carrick acknowledged the financial limitations, stating, "We went into the window wanting to come out stronger from the group that we had last season. We've definitely added to that." The manager, however, emphasized the importance of adapting to the squad's strengths and weaknesses, saying, "Certainly, the players that we've brought into the group I'm absolutely delighted with, and I think we've done some really good business there."

United's defense, already weakened by the injury-plagued Luke Shaw, remains a concern. Carrick affirmed his positive outlook on the squad, acknowledging the presence of talented players like Joshua Zirkzee and expressing hope for increased playing time: "Josh can do some really, really top things. I've seen it myself, and I know he can do that, and I'm looking forward to him doing that a little bit more often for us."
