Hybrid cloud optionality is gaining significance as businesses distribute applications across private clouds, public clouds, and colocation facilities. Everyone is discussing where the industry is headed, but it's essential to understand where your organization currently stands," Carter remarked during an interview at VMware Explore on theCUBE.

Managed infrastructure providers can handle storage, networking, virtualization, security, and disaster recovery through platforms such as VMware Cloud Foundation, freeing up internal resources for other priorities while maintaining flexibility in cloud environments. Carter highlighted that operating such distributed infrastructure demands expertise in multiple areas, and customers should concentrate on their core competencies while relying on managed services for technical expertise.

Lightedge is among 14 U.S.-based VMware Cloud Service Provider Pinnacle partners, but its hybrid cloud approach extends to public cloud and colocation services. This comprehensive strategy supports informed workload decisions rather than pressuring customers into adopting a specific platform. Carter stressed that companies should focus on their unique needs and objectives, rather than being compelled to select a particular vendor.

"I won't tell you, 'You must use … VMware,' if that's not the best choice for your business or for that particular department," he explained. "We should determine where you need to be and how to position you effectively, rather than enforcing a solution simply because that's what we're selling. This approach helps prevent companies from making misguided decisions."
