Lagos govt fires back at Solomon Buchi over comments on city

The Lagos State Government has responded to content creator Solomon Buchi's recent comments criticizing the city as a destination for foreigners. Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Akosile, dismissed Buchi's remarks as evidence of "bitterness" towards Lagos. Akosile urged Buchi to promote other parts of Nigeria positively instead of disparaging Lagos.

The government defended the city's nightlife, including activities like clubbing and cosmetic surgery, which Buchi criticized. Akosile accused Buchi of making hostile comments about the city and vowed that negative rhetoric would not diminish Lagos' appeal as a city of opportunities. Lagos will continue to develop despite such "hateful rhetoric," the government stated.

While Buchi suggested Caucasians and Chinese tourists explore other Nigerian cities like Ibadan, Uyo, Abuja, Calabar, Jos, Taraba, Kano, Yola, and Bauchi for a more authentic experience, the Lagos government remains confident in the city's ongoing growth and attractiveness.
