Kerjasama Umno, PAS bukan untuk hidup semula MN, kata Asyraf

Pengkalan Chepa: Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, Deputy General Secretary of Umno, attended the 72nd Muktamar of PAS in Kelantan to convey a message on behalf of PAS President Zahid Hamidi. He clarified that the cooperation between Umno and PAS is not aimed at resurrecting the National Unity Front (MN), but rather to find common ground between the two largest Malay parties for political stability in the nation.

Asyraf emphasized that they wish to support any agenda that can fulfill the aspirations of Malay people to see the country achieve stability, harmony, and happiness. Most importantly, this cooperation can provide a great national aspiration for a stable, harmonious, and contented nation, he said after the Presidential Meeting and Opening Statement of PAS's 72nd Muktamar.

Asyraf discussed the form of cooperation being considered between Umno and PAS, stating that while MN was established in September 2019 through the collaboration of PAS and Umno to unite Malay Islamist voters, supporting an agenda that unites the Muslim ummah and Malay people does not mean neglecting the rights and interests of other races and religions.

He clarified that this is still too early to discuss, but any support for unifying the ummah as desired by the majority of the people is essential. However, as always stressed, unifying the ummah does not mean denying other races or religions. The state of our nation, its protector, is the Malay and Islamic people.
