India in continuous touch with Ukraine, Russia to help end conflict: Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has stated that India has been in continuous communication with both Ukraine and Russia as efforts are being made to explore ideas and suggestions that could either mitigate or end the ongoing conflict. After visiting Ukraine, Jaishankar discussed complex global challenges, including supply chain resilience and food, fuel, and fertiliser security with his Polish counterpart, Radoslaw Sikorski.

During his visit to Kyiv, Jaishankar met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha. He reiterated India's stance that wars without winners must conclude, emphasizing that every additional day of conflict results in more death, destruction, and loss for all parties involved. Jaishankar believes that the solution lies in diplomacy, dialogue, and negotiation, rather than trade.

In his talks with Sikorski, Jaishankar reviewed the progress of the Joint Action Plan 2024-28, which encompasses trade, investment, defence, culture, and multilateral cooperation. He expressed confidence in the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and Poland, which he believes will lead to even closer bilateral cooperation.

Jaishankar highlighted that the world is currently facing not only multiple wars but also significant challenges related to food, fuel, and fertiliser availability. As political democracies and market economies, India and Poland can collaborate to address global debates and shape the direction of important discussions. They have a longstanding cordial relationship, which was elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2024.
