India in continuous touch with Ukraine, Russia to help end conflict: Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated on Friday that India has been maintaining continuous communication with both Ukraine and Russia, aiming to explore ideas and suggestions that could help mitigate or end the ongoing conflict. Jaishankar, who recently returned from a visit to Ukraine, discussed complex global challenges with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski during his time in Poland.

They covered topics such as supply chain resilience, food, fuel, and fertilizer security, as well as the long-standing war in Ukraine, which has been raging for its fifth year.

Jaishankar reiterated India's commitment to promoting dialogue and diplomacy to bring an end to the conflict, emphasizing that endless wars yield no winners. He firmly believes that the solution lies in negotiations and diplomacy, rather than in trade or supply chain considerations.

During his meetings with Sikorski, the EAM reviewed the progress of the Joint Action Plan 2024-28, which encompasses trade, investment, defence, culture, and multilateral cooperation. Jaishankar expressed confidence in Poland's support for deeper India-EU cooperation and highlighted the longstanding cordial relationship between India and Poland, which was elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2024.

As the world grapples with multiple wars and critical issues like food, fuel, and fertilizer availability, Jaishankar stressed the importance of supply chain resilience. He affirmed that India and Poland, as political democracies and market economies, can collaborate to shape important global debates. Jaishankar also met Polish President Karol Nawrocki, discussing bilateral relations and the ongoing Ukraine conflict and the situation in West Asia.
