‘I have gone through a lot these past two days’ – A-Plus

Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng, widely known as A-Plus, has been facing intense pressure over the past two days due to the violent clashes in New Winneba. The incident resulted in several fatalities and injuries, igniting tensions between the affected communities. During a joint Facebook address with Effutu MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin, A-Plus disclosed that the mounting expectations on political leaders to address the situation and resolve longstanding tensions had made the pressure unbearable.

"I have gone through a lot these past two days. It is all part of it. There came a time when the pressure was intense because the things people are supposed to be doing, they aren't doing," A-Plus explained.

A-Plus emphasized that leaders must take the initiative to resolve pressing challenges, particularly when residents feel that justice is not being served. He highlighted his role as a political leader, which entails being available to people who rely on him for support during difficult times. "I have become one person I have to be there for a lot of people, so there is a lot of pressure," he added.

Recognizing their roles as political leaders in the area, A-Plus and Afenyo-Markin must collaborate to ease the longstanding tensions between the communities and work towards a lasting solution. Effutu Traditional Council has also called for swift arrests in response to the deadly New Winneba violence.
