Hadi urges PAS to defend seats won in previous polls

PAS leader Abdul Hadi Awang has called on the party to safeguard the seats it secured in previous elections and focus on defending the state and parliamentary seats it won in the 15th general election. The Perikatan Nasional (PN)-led states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, and Perlis, known as SG4, must be retained, with the party aiming to improve governance and implement the Islamic agenda in these areas.

Hadi emphasized that PAS should communicate its achievements to the people and voters to counteract attacks from rivals.

In addition to securing control in the mentioned states, Hadi urged PAS to broaden its horizons by targeting Pahang, Perak, and Selangor, as well as enhancing its performance in Melaka, where a state election is anticipated. At present, PAS holds one seat in Melaka, previously won by the Barisan Nasional party. The Islamic party has promised to contest 16 of Melaka's 28 state seats, including Tanjung Bidara, which is currently held by the Melaka Barisan Nasional chairman, Ab Rauf Yusoh.

To strengthen its presence in these states, Hadi stressed that the entire PAS machinery should work together to penetrate areas with non-Muslim majorities and secure decisive votes in Muslim-majority areas by demonstrating the party's commitment to the people's interests and upholding good governance.
