Girl, 13, to compete in golf world championship

A 13-year-old golfer from Leominster, Chloe, has been selected to participate in one of the most prestigious junior golf competitions in the world. Chloe secured her spot at the IMG Junior World Championship in San Diego, California, by winning the Faldo Futures competition, a tournament hosted by former English golfer and TV commentator, Sir Nick Faldo.

Chloe expressed her happiness about the achievement, crediting her extensive summer practice for her success. She also mentioned feeling proud of herself, particularly for the dedication she has put into her golfing. Last year, Chloe had also emerged as the champion in her age category at another world championship in Marbella, Spain.

Chloe's father, Lee, described his immense pride in his daughter's accomplishment. He noted that approximately 4,000 young golfers participated in the Faldo Futures competition this year, with Chloe managing to secure her victory through skillful play and nerve control.

The golf prodigy had to advance through multiple qualifying stages to reach the finals, including playing in the qualifiers where the top two players qualified for the regional finals, and then the top two from the regional finals played in the finals. In her own words, Chloe expressed her anticipation of competing against other accomplished players.

Lee highlighted his daughter's ability to balance golf and her education, emphasizing that she practices diligently, stays on top of her studies, and manages to find time for both. He expressed hope that Chloe's success would inspire more girls in Herefordshire to take up golf, ultimately fostering greater interest in the sport among local girls.
