‘Everyone is a winner’: Luis Enrique defends PSG’s £125m Barcola sale to Liverpool

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach Luis Enrique defended the club's decision to sell France winger Bradley Barcola to Liverpool, stating that everyone was a winner in the deal. Speaking to reporters ahead of his team's Ligue 1 match against Monaco, Enrique expressed that Barcola had requested to leave in order to gain more importance within the team, a quality that could not be guaranteed in training.

The coach acknowledged Barcola's significant contributions to PSG, including his role in the team's Champions League and Ligue 1 titles last season, and wished him the best of luck in his new club. Barcola's transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Liverpool for a record-breaking fee of €125 million plus €20 million in bonuses was finalized during the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old French international had not played for PSG at the beginning of the current season due to competition for the same position on the wing with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. PSG had also brought in three new attacking players for a combined fee of around €150 million, including Spain's Ferran Torres, Moroccan Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco, and Mika Godts from Ajax.

Luis Enrique expressed his satisfaction with the additions to the squad, emphasizing that comparisons should not be made, and that he is confident in the team's performance. The PSG coach acknowledged that his new players would need time to adapt before the upcoming match against Monaco, who had previously defeated the Parisians in the French Champions Trophy.
