Days after Doval-Wang talks in Beijing, Corps Commander set to meet Chinese counterpart in N-E

Following the recent high-level talks between India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing, Indian military authorities are set to convene with their Chinese counterparts in the Northeast. Lt General Girish Kalia, commanding India's III Corps, known as the Spear Corps, is expected to meet with his Chinese counterpart and other officers in the coming days. The Spear Corps oversees operations in Nagaland, Manipur, and eastern Arunachal Pradesh along the Line of Actual Control.

Multiple rounds of discussions between local commanders have taken place to address border issues in recent weeks. Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth visited the Spear Corps earlier this week to assess the operational readiness of all formations and ongoing border development projects. On August 25, the Indian and Chinese sides agreed to advance discussions on early and substantial progress in delimitating the border and managing shared areas.

They also established two new border military hotlines and additional meeting points for commander-level talks.
