Asyraf ganti Zahid hadir Muktamar PAS

In a historic event for Malaysia's political landscape, Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, the Deputy Secretary General of Umno, represented his party's President Zahid Hamidi at the PAS Muktamar 72 held in Kuala Lumpur today. Zahid Hamidi's absence was due to circumstances beyond his control, according to Takiyuddin Hassan, the Secretary General of PAS.

The Muktamar saw Umno officials including Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, the President of Kelantan Umno, and Alwi Che Ahmad, a member of the Majlis Kerja Tertinggi Umno, alongside key members of the Perikatan Nasional coalition. Notable attendees from other parties included Hamzah Zainudin, the Leader of the Opposition, Mukhriz Mahathir, the President of Pejuang, Dominic Lau, the President of Gerakan, and N Sathes Kumar, the Deputy Secretary General of MIPP.

The participation of Umno members in the PAS event marked a significant moment in Malaysia's political scene, aiming to strengthen the idea of national unity among the diverse parties. Takiyuddin Hassan welcomed the Umno delegation and delegations during the opening remarks of the Muktamar.

Previously, Takiyuddin had reported that PAS had invited Umno leaders to the Muktamar, recognizing Umno as a strategic cooperation partner. Just yesterday, the PUM delegation led by Dr Akmal Saleh attended the Umno Youth Muktamar, while the Chairman of the Majlis Ulama Umno, Dusuki Ahmad, attended the Umno Ulama Muktamar. The presence of Umno leaders at the PAS Muktamar highlighted the ongoing political collaboration between the two parties, the last of which occurred in Pahang in 2019 under the leadership of Deputy President Mohamad Hasan.
