(2nd LD) Lee to visit France next week for summit with Macron

President Lee Jae Myung will travel to France from September 5th to 8th to attend a summit focused on cinema and engage in bilateral discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, according to a presidential official. This visit is a response to Macron's April visit to South Korea and coincides with the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Lee will begin his journey in Saint-Paul-de-Vence to participate in the Lumiere Summit on the future of cinema before traveling to Paris for a two-day state visit. During this stay, he will co-chair the Lumiere Summit with Macron on Monday, followed by a private luncheon with the French president on Tuesday, and a summit dinner at the Elysee Palace.

In addition to these events, Lee is scheduled to meet with French parliamentary speaker Yael Braun-Pivet, OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann, and attend a business roundtable involving 20 companies from both countries. The French trip aims to strengthen cooperation in security, economy, science, technology, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, with an emphasis on advancing global strategic partnership, particularly in sectors like artificial intelligence, space, nuclear energy, biology, and advanced technologies.
