26,457 penuntut IPTA, politeknik terima wang pendahuluan PTPTN

A total of 26,457 new applicants for bachelor's degrees in public universities and polytechnics for the September 2026 semester have received the Initial Loan Advance (WPP) amounting to a combined RM39.7 million, according to the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN). Each recipient was given RM1,500 to help cover initial living expenses before starting their studies.

This initiative, under the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), aims to assist citizens who have agreed to receive WPP through UPUOnline or the UA portal, and those whose parents or guardians are recipients of the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) and meet the set criteria.

Since its introduction in 1999 until July 31, WPP has benefited over one million students, with a total allocation of RM1.48 billion. PTPTN's Norliza Abdul Rahim stated that this convenience is provided to alleviate family financial burdens and ensure students embark on their university journey with greater readiness and discipline. PTPTN remains committed to ensuring education financing is accessible to all segments of society, regardless of background or socio-economic status, according to the statement.

Prior to this, PTPTN visited students' homes to promote the initiative in Tasek Gelugor before Norliza completed the District-Wide WPP Donation ceremony in Bukit Gelugor, Pulau Pinang. Eligible students can check their offers through the myPTPTN app and complete the form at any Bank Islam branch nationwide from today until November 3.
