Ugreen, known primarily for chargers and device accessories, has recently unveiled a new addition to the smart home market: the "HomeAgent," a locally-run AI hub integrated with their new line of smart cameras. The announcement comes with its share of speculation, as AI is often associated with privacy concerns and price hikes for tech products.

However, a locally run AI model presents a lower risk profile. Ugreen's HomeAgent HA100 and HA100 Pro hubs are designed to control smart home devices within an ecosystem using models that run entirely on-site. This is similar to Google Home's AI image and event detection, but within a perimeter-controlled framework. The HA100 and HA100 Pro hubs operate on a local network, handling tasks such as summarizing events captured by cameras, recognizing individuals, pets, and vehicles in footage, and generating image highlights for display on Ugreen's smart photo frames.

The hubs come equipped with Matter support, enabling unified local control over other devices on the network. Ugreen also announced a selection of cameras that will work seamlessly with HomeAgent. The SynCare indoor camera features a pan/tilt base, 4K image capture, and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and comes with a physical privacy shutter.

There are two outdoor models: the SynCare PoE and Battery Cams. The PoE model requires an Ethernet connection for power, while the Battery Cam uses a solar panel for charging, although it may not respond as quickly. The HomeAgent line, including the HA100 and HA100 Pro hubs, the SynCare cameras, and additional smart home devices, is now available for pre-order.
